Absence

From Goleudywrs Space

Summary

[edit]

The Absence (see also: Void, The Empty, Abyss, Eas, etc) is an empty expanse between Universes. While not totally empty, it seems to have hard rules that cause it to mandate such emptiness. Experimentation has lead to understanding the following which has been named as "Identity Theory"

  1. Anything that doesn't have a purpose or identity will be lost and cease to exist.
    1. This rule struggles most against objects with clear cut purposes, things with names, and objects with a sense of self identity.
      1. The stronger an identity or sense of purpose the harder of a time this rule has to apply.
  2. The Absence wants to be empty. We don’t know if this is just a law of it or anything that is acted on with intent, but by some mechanism it is very effective at accomplishing this albeit with certain limitations.
    1. This effect has one of two outcomes: cessation of existence or the reintroduction to a space of existence (what we typically call Universes.)
    2. Despite being “empty” it is still a container space of sorts. Every known universe is in some way connected or within it, you just cannot see or interact with them until somehow passing into their boundary.
  3. The Absence can only affect things that have directly been through or in it outside of a universe's boundary limit.
    1. It can and will affect memories of those who pass through it, albeit this effect diminishes the more one interacts with it, likely due to clauses 1.1 and 1.2 being reinforced from interaction with other Identified/Purposed spaces, things, and people.

As a result of the above there are a few intriguing implications, most importantly being that any who stray into it generally will come out of it mostly unharmed. They will end up somewhere at some time and from there, can find their bearings. However they may not know why or how they got their if it was one of their first few forays out of local universal space.
